Thank you for applying to officiate in the FC Stars Cup Invitational Tournament! Your participation in this event ensures that the players that come to our tournament will have a fair, safe, and (most importantly) FUN experience. Your contribution to this tournament is an important one, and it is vital that as referees you hold yourselves to the highest professional standards possible. Please read the following CAREFULLY as tournament rules are included: Directions/Parking: The tournament will be held at the Citizen's Bank Fields @ Progin Park in Lancaster, MA. Directions can be found by clicking here. Arrival Time/Check-In: Please arrive at the soccer pavilion at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled kick-off time to check in. DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO ANY FIELD FIRST. Player Check-in: Players will be checked in by tournament staff. Please make sure that player equipment meets the requirements of the law before starting play, but do not do a formal check-in. Games must START ON TIME. Referee Dress and Appearance: Referees should be in proper uniform at all times while officiating matches. The standard uniform for USSF referees is the gold w/black pin stripes, black shorts , black socks with 3 stripes at the top, black cleats/turf shoes, and the current year's referee patch. The USSF logo socks are allowed but all 3 members of the officiating team must have them on. Referees should be in uniform while moving to a field to do a game, during the game, and while returning from a game. At all other times referees should either remain in the referee area, or have a warm up on to cover the uniform if walking around. Do not wander around in uniform. Game Balls: Please obtain a game ball from one of the coaches prior to the start of the match. Game Duration/Overtime: All preliminary round games will have 30 min halves with the exception of U10 matches. These will play with 25 min halves. Semifinal and Championship round games must have a winner. At the end of regulation, if the game is still tied, a coin toss shall determine which team chooses the net to attack. The other team shall have the ball. Two (2) five minute overtime periods are played and there shall be a one minute rest interval between the two overtime periods. The "golden goal" rule will be in effect. If either team should score a goal during either overtime period, that team shall be declared the winner of the match. If the game is still tied then the FIFA Kicks From The Penalty Mark procedure shall be used to determine the winner. Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions by both teams will be allowed: * Prior to Goal Kicks Game Cards: A game card will be provided for each game. Please print the appropriate information on the card and return it as soon as your game is over to a field marshall. It is vital that game cards are returned as soon as your game is over. This is the official record of the game. When recording the score on the card, please do not use hash marks! Be sure that the score you've recorded is correct...do NOT transpose the numbers. Spectator Areas: Spectators will be on the opposite side of the field from the teams. This is an important control mechanism for you, and is better for the players. Please enforce this strictly. Food and Drink: The tournament will provide food and drink for the referees. Please remember, it will be hot, STAY HYDRATED. The worst thing we can have out there is a dehydrated referee. It's unsafe for you and it hurts the game. Tournament Rules: Please click here to see the tournament rules for anything not covered above. |
